The Hemingway take on a rye Old Fashioned. Hemingway wasn’t a fan of sugar and would find sweetener alternatives to his favorite cocktails while upping the alcohol portion to accommodate his tastes. This is our modern take on that classic Hemingway method.
- 3 oz Hemingway Rye Whiskey
- 0.5 oz Demerara Syrup (or simple syrup if you can’t find it)
- 2 dashes Angostura bitters
- One filthy cherry
Combine all ingredients (minus the cherry) in a mixing glass over ice, stir for 30-45 seconds then strain onto a king cube. Garnish with orange peel, and lay a Filthy Cherry skewered with a cocktail stick over the top. For a little extra something sweet, add a half teaspoon of filthy cherry juice to your Old Fashioned. Enjoy!
